It is believed that this psalm was written at the same time when David pretended to be insane before Abimelech, who drove him away. It was a time when David, like ourselves, was struggling to follow and believe that the Lord who anointed him “would deliver him from all his troubles.” This psalm is tailored for us today because it shows the vulnerability of Christians who fall into the trap of not trusting the One who promises to guide us through.
• An invitation to praise
• The poor man
• Taste and see
• The fear of the Lord
• A summary of contrast
1. A balanced view of life
2. Beyond deliverance
